There is a new shop on Robertson that might be mistaken for a privately owned boutique but as soon as you walk into 1969 you will realize it is one of the new Pop-Up Stores by Gap. The innovation behind the design is based in reviving classic American denim. The collection ranges from skinny to boyfriend jeans for refreshingly reasonable prices. If you’re interested in shopping at this hot new pop-up go quickly because it is only here till September 27^th.

The true fashionista is the forward thinking modern woman who is up on all the latest trends. This fashion sense transcends simply what she puts on her body. Her home also reflects this forward consciousness. But let’s face it. Clutter will take away from any room. No matter how well it’s decorated. I don’t know about you but one thing that drives me crazy is the everyday clutter, ie: keys, wallets, charging cell phones with a maze of wires. Even though there are only two people living in one space we have managed to accumulate four cell phones that each need charging almost daily. I was at my wits end when I stumbled upon this functional piece of fabulousity… The charging station. Now let me get something straight. This is not the first time I’ve seen one, it’s just the first time I actually liked one. Most of them look and feel cheep and can run upwards of $50-$60. I have fallen in love with the natural solid wood element of this piece juxtaposed against the industrial digital age of cell phones. It also has a perfectly sized compartment for keys, the hubby’s wallet and everything else that accumulates from day-to-day. The best part is it was only $29.99 at Target and comes with a four outlet extention cord for your charging needs. If you are in the market for a cellular organizational solution  for yourself or as a gift look no further! I highly recommend it.

It’s that time of year again…yes the smell of delicious deals on true designer goods is upon us. Drum roll please…The Barneys New York warehouse sale. It only happens once a year ladies. This year Barneys added a completely new location to the usual two stop bi-coastal fashion frenzy it’s San Francisco which just wrapped up August 9^th.  The sale offers women’s, men’s and gifts for the home

Barneys also changed the traditional location in Los Angeles. Rather than holding the sale at the Santa Monica airport hanger it will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. If this will be your first time shopping the warehouse sale here are a few tips:

• There are no dressing rooms so wear clothes you can easily try other clothes while wearing
• If you can, shop at least two of the days I suggest going the first and last date day of the sale. The first day of the sale will be a madhouse, but it’s worth it when you get the first pick of $150 Louboutins. Then go again on the last day when everything is marked down even further
• This is not a quick lunch break stop. Schedule a lot of time. Prepare for mobs of fashionistas and long checkout lines.
• Not that we should suggest opening another credit card in this recession, but if you do open one the day you shop they will take an additional 10% off the already 50-75% markdowns…tempting

Friday was the opening day for Julie and Julia. I like to view myself as a fabulous cook so naturally I had to pay my respects to one of the greats of French/American cuisine Julia Child. The movie is more than just about a love of cooking. It is about passion on infinite levels. What I didn’t expect was the movie was a fashionistas indulgence.

Meryl Streep transformed Julia Child into a fashion forward fashionista adorned in pearls and heels in the kitchen. She is always elegant and exquisite throughout the movie. Even her aprons were form fitting and fashionable making me rethink my well loved and over-used apron. There are so many fantastic way to accessorize while in the kitchen. The first and easiest of course is your apron. Many of my vintage inspired favs are from Anthropologie. Some of them make you want to wear an apron everywhere.

When all is said and done, your fabulous dinner party is over and the dishes need scrubbing a true fashionista slips on her dishwashing gloves to match. 

Let us be reminded that a girl can accessories anytime, even in the midst of domesticity. Treat yourself to a fantastic movie and then bake your girlfriends some buttery chocolate croissants while wearing a fabulous apron. Trust me you will want something decadent after the film!

  Hello Fashionistas!

Yesterday thousands showed up for the open casting call that began for Sex and the City 2 in New York.

The Call was appropriately for “fashion models, celebrity types, upscale socialites, urban club goers, gays and lesbians and professional soccer players” The last of which makes me wonder about the new plot line. Will Samantha start playing the field with a hot soccer player? Lord knows stilettos don’t belong on a soccer field. I can’t wait for the new film! Ladies, keep your Cosmos chilled because production is just beginning but you know on opening weekend it will be another fabulous girl’s night out!
