Hello Fashionistas!
Friday was the opening day for Julie and Julia. I like to view myself as a fabulous cook so naturally I had to pay my respects to one of the greats of French/American cuisine Julia Child. The movie is more than just about a love of cooking. It is about passion on infinite levels. What I didn’t expect was the movie was a fashionistas indulgence.

Meryl Streep transformed Julia Child into a fashion forward fashionista adorned in pearls and heels in the kitchen. She is always elegant and exquisite throughout the movie. Even her aprons were form fitting and fashionable making me rethink my well loved and over-used apron. There are so many fantastic way to accessorize while in the kitchen. The first and easiest of course is your apron. Many of my vintage inspired favs are from Anthropologie. Some of them make you want to wear an apron everywhere.
When all is said and done, your fabulous dinner party is over and the dishes need scrubbing a true fashionista slips on her dishwashing gloves to match.
Let us be reminded that a girl can accessories anytime, even in the midst of domesticity. Treat yourself to a fantastic movie and then bake your girlfriends some buttery chocolate croissants while wearing a fabulous apron. Trust me you will want something decadent after the film!
Deliciously yours,
Sassy Chick
Hello Fashionistas!
Yesterday thousands showed up for the open casting call that began for Sex and the City 2 in New York.

The Call was appropriately for “fashion models, celebrity types, upscale socialites, urban club goers, gays and lesbians and professional soccer players” The last of which makes me wonder about the new plot line. Will Samantha start playing the field with a hot soccer player? Lord knows stilettos don’t belong on a soccer field. I can’t wait for the new film! Ladies, keep your Cosmos chilled because production is just beginning but you know on opening weekend it will be another fabulous girl’s night out!

The next issue of Vogue will feature the 2009 best dressed list and I have a small snippet. I don’t always agree with these lists but these trend setters undoubtedly make the grade!

Hello Fashionistas!
We have all seen them, from nightclubs to pools, Ed Hardy’s tattoo-inspired artwork and heavy embellishments are as ubiquitous in Las Vegas nightclubs as Grey Goose vodka bottles and bachelor parties. The brand has become one of the staples of Las Vegas style, and the Christian Audigier brand even went so far as to open The Nightclub inside Treasure Island.

The Ed Hardy swimwear line is pushing to expand into mainstream fashion without losing its edge. Ed Hardy Swim now offers more options, including mix-and-match separates and new design elements like flocking, embroidery and metallic fabrics. The signature Ed Hardy embellishments are still present, but Arthur said the line is still swimmable. The move was designed to make the pool attire more appealing to customers outside the typical Las Vegas or Los Angeles market. “We needed some freshness,” Arthur says. “This season it’s not just your typical tattoo print; it’s a little more sophisticated.”

If you want a feel for what the line looks like this year, look no further than Vegas’ own Wet Republic where the cocktail servers can be spotted sporting all Ed Hardy swimwear. The sponsorship with the posh pool club isn’t Ed Hardy’s only exclusive outfitting in Vegas. Cocktail servers at Caesars Palace’s Venus Pool Club are decked out in Ed Hardy’s Christian Audigier line.

All of these elements strip hair leaving it looking and feeling dull, brittle and dry. Here are a few homemade inexpensive ways to revive your summer hair slump.

Before swimming in chlorinated water rinse your hair in clean water and apply a leave in conditioner so your hair is protected from soaking up chlorine.
Deep Cleansing Shampoo
Mix the contents of a green-tea bag and two tablespoons of olive oil, with the juice of a half a lemon and half an orange. Whip In a blender. Then massage into hair and leave on for fifteen minutes. Shampoo and condition.
For a quick and easy deep clean add 1 tbsp baking soda to your regular shampoo… it’s better than most striping shampoos on the market and only about $1 for a box.
Shine-Boosting Conditioner
Brew a cup of tea in a flavor close to your hair color.
Blonde/Chamomile
Brunette/black current
Redhead/Orange pekoe
Mix equal parts tea with hair conditioner. Use once or twice a week.
How to add volume to hair
Steep a bag of nettle tea in a cup of water and apply to clean and conditioned hair while damp. Nettle coats and thickens your hair shaft.
Remember, the easiest and best way to protect your hair is simply to wear a hat when you will be in the sun for extended periods of time.
