So we all know that most of us absolutely hate Bathing suit shopping but we have to do it. So i went to Huntington and looked for about 5 hours. i must have tried on over 100 bathing suits but i actually found one actually i found three. i never thought that i would find even one.
I’ve read all the articles that come out in spring about how to find your bathing suit for your body type. SO those are the ones i tried on. I am a pear shape so i look best in full bottoms that tie on the side and either bandeau or halter tops. so that’s what i got. My favorite one is this orange, blue and white colored half bandeau and half halter you can remove the strings from around your neck and tie them on your back, and the bottoms are a full bottom with a tie on one side so that it doesn’t cut off my side.
For the first year i actually feel really comfortable in all of my bathing suits. dont be discouraged go out and shop.
The Belmont Shore area of Long Beach offers their special event called Stroll and Savor a few times a year and this Wednesday & Thursday June 24/25th from 5:30-9pm they are hosting it again!
Stroll and Savor is a sidewalk food festival held several times a year on 2nd Street in Long Beach. You can buy tickets at several places on 2nd St and most places also take cash ($1 = 1 ticket), but if you buy tickets you get to donate to the cause, plus you essentially get $2 back (a book of 12 tickets costs $10).
At each restaurant, they have a menu with the food and how many each tickets it costs for their little entree or appetizer. A few of the items below are some of the local favorites:
-Plate of hummus, tzantziki, pita, greek salad, spanakopita, and gyro from George’s Greek Cafe for 3 tickets ***(BEST one with the BEST deal)***
-Five pieces of hot wings from Legends for 3 tickets
-One slider from Legends for 2 tickets
-Small plate of Pad Thai from Phuket Thai for 2 tickets
-Slice of pizza from BJ’s for 2 tickets
-One flauta from Taco Surf for 2 tickets
-Two falafel patties from Open Sesame for 2 tickets
-Any one item from Natraj Cuisine of India for 1 ticket
-Cinnamon Twist from Sweet Jill’s for 2 tickets
-Cinnamon sticky bun with nuts from Sweet Jill’s for 2 tickets
Participating businesses are: Polly’s Gourmet Coffee, Rubio’s Baja Grill, La Strada, Vint’s, The Crepe Lady, Wiskers, Lucille’s, Magic Lamp, Panama Joe’s, Sunnin Cafe, Sweet Jill’s, Legends, BJ’s Pizza and Grill, Natraj Cuisine of India, Phuket Thai, Powell’s Sweet Shoppe, Belmont Station, Fern’s Garden, George’s Greek Café, Taco Surf, It’s a Grind, Frosted Cupcakery, Belmont Grill, Bono’s, Yen Sushi, La Creperie Café, Quinn’s, Open Sesame, Buona Gente, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, New York’s Upper Crust, Aroma di Roma, Riley’s, and Shannon’s Bay Shore. So, it’s a mix of chains and local restaurants.
It’s a great opportunity to try some new restaurants or just get a variety of food from the places you already know and love. There’s live music and a generally festive atmosphere. Parking in Belmont Shore is never easy, but it’s not really that much worse than normal, you might have to park a block or two away, but it’s not too bad. 2nd St is also easily accessible by public transportation.
If you haven’t gotten the chance to visit this part of Long Beach then you are definitely missing out! It’s such a cute little area with over 30 restaurants, tons of cute shops and boutiques, and many other fun and exciting things to look at. It’s kind of a hidden gem in Long Beach, but definitely worth the trip (especially during the Stroll and Savor)
Being a native California girl I have been to my share of events here on the west coast. It wasn’t until I married a New Yorker that I started also attending events in New York on a fairly regular basis. I’m speaking primarily about weddings. Being in our early thirties we have, on average, attended 2 to 5 weddings per year. That being said, it is hard not to compare the differences between the New York and California dress code. In California a girl can “get away” with adding her favorite pair of Jimmy Choo heels to what would otherwise be a nice sundress and she is set. In California I never even owned a pair of pantyhose. There was never a need. Last February my husband and I traveled back east for a black-tie wedding that was truly a gala. I bought a short black-tie worthy dress and shoes that happened to also be open-toe. There was no way I could not wear pantyhose to a black-tie event not to mention the fact that it was freezing in February. I mulled over this for sometime and considered getting closed-toe heels to fix the dilemma of exposed pantyhose seams on my toes. Then my girlfriend recommended Donna Karan’s ‘The Nudes’ Toeless Hosiery (which also have a control top, really who can’t use that?). They are amazing! I am now a believer in pantyhose. They are so sheer they look like you’re not wearing anything but your own great tone. A few girls even commented on how great my legs looked and couldn’t wait to get them as well. Seriously ladies, if you must wear hose with open toes you must get those!

If you’re looking for a beautiful place to wine and dine in the Los Angeles area, I have just the place for you. Last weekend my boyfriend and I had dinner at Yamashiro, a Cal-Asian restaurant located at a rather low-key venue on top the Hollywood Hills. The restaurant is affiliated with Magic Castle, an exclusive club known to have celebrities as members. Surrounding the restaurant are beautiful Hollywood Hills apartments, houses, and condo’s.
Valet is $8, but as soon as you get out of the car you can see the beautiful Japanese decor of this amazing restaurant. The mere ambience of Yamashiro is truly magical. The experience is enhanced by the spectacular view thats overlooks downtown LA, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills – this is pretty much my favorite part of the restaurant, and I’m sure many others agree that this is what customers pay for. In addition to this, there are beautiful Japanese gardens and waterfalls inside, a bar lounge, and a banquet room which overlooks Los Angeles (This is where I ate).
As for the food, I’d give it a 7 out of 10. For appetizers I ordered calamari tempura along with their famous Mai tai’s (The waiter told me this recipe was 88 years old so I had to try it). For our entree’s we ordered all sushi, the Darth Vader roll which had caviar, spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado, and black rice (two thumbs up on this), the Reclining Buddha roll with had shrimp, chilies, cilantro, cabbage, peanuts, and spicy ponzu (sounds great but I rather bland, don’t recommend this one), and the dragon roll which is your typical eel roll which we enjoyed. It’s safe to say that I’ve had better sushi in my lifetime. Perhaps the entree’s on the menu are better than the sushi. I’ll definitely try something other than the sushi the next time I come here.
All-in-all, it was a worthwhile experience. You definitely pay for the ambience at Yamashiro. My boyfriend and I spent nearly $100 on food, drinks, and parking, but if you ask me if it is worth it, I would say absolutely! The service was excellent, and the overall experience of the famous Hollywood restaurant was pleasant. I highly recommend you come here. Although the food was not up to par with the aesthetics of the restaurant, I still had a romantic evening and look forward to my next visit to this enchanting venue. Next time, I’ll just make sure to order a steak. =)
