Thankfully those miniature little brazilian swimsuits are not the focus of everyone at the beach anymore. This swimsuit season its ALLLLLL about the one-piece. FINALLY!!! Why would you want to spend $150 on two miniature pieces of fabric that would barely cover a child let alone an adult! Well thankfully this swimsuit season its all about the 60s glamour, and turning that fabulous bandeau one-piece into a wear-all outfit! I know, I know, this blog is supposed to be all about steals, deals, invites, etc. BUT, before I give you the lastest duds, I must share this with you. On DailyCandy’s things to do this weekend guide they recommend going to see “Ace in Hole” with Kirk Douglas screening at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Saturday night. Gates open at 7:30pm and the movie begins at 9pm, which is the first of many old movie screenings to come at the cemetery. Whatever happened to the drive-in? Pretty sure I would much rather watch a movie on a big screen on the hood of my 79 chevy then sit on top of a 50 year-old dead guy?!!! What is hollywood thinking?! Are we really THIS desperate to find entertainment these days?
Ok, enough of that (sad too that Daily Candy is PROMOTING this event) ewwww. Even though it is gloomy ploomy outside there are still things in this world to get excited about. So I love Lucy (the fitness apparel store) and feel less guilty shopping there when they are running one of their fabulous promotions (kind of pricey for yoga pants). SECRET WORDS: DAYS AWAY BUY
I first need to apologize for not writing to you all yesterday (you’ll get two secret words today)…there was a semi tragic electricity problem at my house and well, no lights = no computer. It was seriously stone-age era in my house…I was reading by candlelight…WHO DOES THAT! Actually it was quite like camping back in the good ole days, before I had to work, and before I cared about straightening my hair. And who knew I could still read! Shocking as this may be, I may have discovered the most glorious book of all time. It is called “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” by Khaled Hosseini. It is an empowering story about the women in Afghanistan and their struggles to survive and be heard in the last 60 years.
Now let me be honest, I’m more of a “Something Borrowed” or “Shopaholic” type of reader (btw, are books names Italicized or quoted) Oh well, anywho, I like an easy read, something I really don’t have to think about while I’m going over 8,000 things in my head. BUT, this book was an incredible page-turner…at one point when the candles were down to that metal at the end of the wick I was flipping open my cell phone and reading by that light. But I would recommend to ANYONE (even men) to go read this book and be thankful for what you have, who you are blessed in this life to be around and the fact you are even allowed to read in public. I just read that Stila is partnering with Marchesa to launch a new color line up. How exciting! I LOVE Stila and Marchesa so the combo should be nothing less than fabulous!
